Aaaaaaye, like I said in my About Me page, I would be doing occasional Kpop MVs review and this is the first.
Edited: for some reason, Blogger won't allow me to use the video's embed code so I used the link instead.
Who is K.A.R.D?
They haven't debuted officially. So, officially, they can't go to music shows and stuff. Although they have not debuted officially, they have released three singles. I have no idea how things work, so yeah. They have not debuted officially but they have slayed my entire existence. I am officially a trash for them.
They are under DSP Entertainment and they are a co-ed group which means they're not exclusively a boy group or a girl group. There are two girls and two guys. I don't really know much about the members (wow you said you're a trash for them you're a fake trash) all I know that the two girls actually debuted in different girl group of DSP before joining KARD. The two boys- I don't know much about them. There aren't much information about the two boys.
Ever since they released their first single, they have gaining a lot of international fans. We, international fans, LOVE them. I don't know what draws them in.
What draws me in?
The fact that they're a co-ed group, I sincerely hope they won't flop. They're not the first co-ed group in KPOP but the previous co-ed group (from CCM???), flopped due to bad management. Their first single, Oh NaNa, have slayed my entire existence.
Who's my bias?
Well. All four of them ha. I can't pick!!!
BM and Somin though, ever since I first watched Oh NaNa, I am really really attracted to them. Somin is just so fricken pretty, I want to cry. She posts singing videos on her instagram and wOw. Goosebumps. The fact that she is the same age as me, only makes me want to cry even more.
BM is the tallest dude in the group. He is Korean but he grew up abroad so he speaks English and maybe Spanish? I don't know. All I know he speaks English and members like him (speaks English and Korean or foreign) always draw me in because I can just relate to them; language barrier, culture shock, etc, etc.
Anyways, enough babbling let's get to the review. I can't really write official reviews anymore. I learnt how to write one in high school but welp yeah.
To the review.
Let's say the things I don't like from the MV first. Yeap. You guessed it. The fact that it has that vertical phone screen going on. Me don't like :(. I know the reason why it has such display is because it is sponsored by LG but still I just had to say that. Watching the MV with that kind of mode is uncomfortable, it still leaves me unsatisfied.
That is probably the only thing that I don't like from the MV. Other than that, I LOVE it. From the beginning to the very end. Oh my god. It is your standard MV set; industrial building, pretty lights-- well yeah. But despite the phone screen vertical-ness, I really appreciate the aesthetic in the MV. Yes. This video is not as interesting as the MV for Don't Recall because Rumor has no complicated theory going on.
(Or maybe there is a crazy theory going on but I haven't picked it up)
The video was shot beautifully. It is very clean and simple. The industrial warehouse slash parking lot going on with the lighting--I AM SOLD. For the video; 8.5/10 because the phone screen vertical thingy.
Don't get me started on their clothes!!!!!!!!!!! Disclaimer: I might be the last person that should talk about fashion because I have no fashion sense.
I love Somin's outfits. Yass Queen slay me. I just love all of her outfits in this video, especially that silk jumpsuit. Oh my god. Yes! Other members' outfits, yes they're awesome but seriously and honestly, hands down to the stylist that came up with Somin's assembly.
Now the song.
Since KARD is not officially debuted, I always have this worry how would they top their previous single. You see, I LOVE Oh NaNa. Like Yas. That song is one of the best 2016 release. So, when they announced that they were releasing Don't Recall, I was worried. How are they gonna top Don't Recall.
Guess what, people.
KARD delivered.
And yes, I had the same worry when they announced they are releasing Rumor. Worried but excited.
Guess what, people.
KARD FRICKEN DELIVERED!!!!
Oh my gosh, guys. I LOVE THE SONG. They released three singles so far and I loved every single one of them. Every minute of them. I cry. As I write this review, I have Rumor on loop and I took my time writing this review so I can sound more coherent.
This song triggers everything inside me just to dance along. You just have to dance when you listen to this song. You won't be able to resist it. Just dance. This is a song that goes with any kind of dance, be it you're a derp like me who can't dance or you're this awesome dance god. You just gotta dance along with this song. Yes!
Rumor has this reggae-ish???? tone in it????? I am not sure guys, I am not a music expert, as you can already tell. Like, this is something that I expected from Shakira or Enrique Iglesias. Like, when I first heard it, I thought it would be in Spanish- I am sorry if I sounded like an a-hole but I can't just lie?
All that being said, I am giving this song 10/10. Yaaay!
SO, I guess, this leaves me with the same worry: will KARD be able to top Rumor?
