[KPOP MV] 도원경(桃源境) (Shangri-La) - VIXX Review

Wow. This MV sure has a lot of names.

I have always loved VIXX for their concepts. They always have interesting concepts, you know. They did space vampire concept, creepy voodoo concept, SM concept, Greek gods concept-- fun stuffs. They always came up with this fun concepts and I like them. I think their concepts are always interesting and the songs they came up with are such bops.

I didn't even know that they're coming back until I see the MV on my recommended bar on Youtube.

Anyways.

This MV delivers. I love the aesthetic in this MV, it's just so pretty? The way they shot individual scenes are so pretty? I can't help but notice that lately a lot of KPOP groups are going with minimalistic aesthetic shots for their MVs. I guess that kind of aesthetic is the trend now. I am not complaining, it fits my aesthetic. LOL.

I should stop saying aesthetic.

I don't understand a thing from the symbolism in the MV so, I won't talk about that and honestly, I am too lazy to thingk and interpret everything. If you have a theory or something, leave a comment below. I would love to know what people out there think.

Let's talk about the title, 도원경(桃源境) (Shangri-La). Well, of course the first thing I noticed is the Chinese characters. It basically says Peach Land. Peach? Ass? Are they talking about all the booty?

They're probably not.

So apparently in Chinese language, 桃源 came from 世外桃源 which means A Land of Peach Blossom; basically a land of beauty and all things nice and some even said it means heaven. So, I guess it means Shangri-La.

I really, really love the visuals of this MV? I deadass can go on and on about it so I am not going to because reading to me gush about the visual is probably boring. I will go from a decently eloquent college student to an incoherent spazzing fangirl.

The song is awesome. It's intense and it has the dramatic flair that "Fantasy" (also a release by VIXX that has Hades-themed concept) has but less emo.

I think this MV is a way for them to appeal to Chinese market since it used a lot of Chinese culture related stuff. Like the costume, the sets, the props, the fan they used (omgosh the fan dance is so pretty), and even in the music. I know that they've been trying to poke the Chinese market (all KPOP groups do) and I know that they released a couple of Chinese songs. Well.. I wish them well on that.

Anyways.

Score time!

Video: 10/10, I LOVE THE MV IT'S SO PRETTY
Song: 8.5/10, some of their previous songs were catchier so yeah.
